Four differences, pinned on both pages

Illustrative example: a fictional studio; no test was run

A test is a question, decided before it starts.

Most page changes are judged by comparing this month with last month. That mixes the change with the season, the campaigns and luck. A fair test runs both versions at once and decides in advance what counts as success.

  • Both versions at the same timeVisitors are split between A and B, so seasons and campaigns affect both equally.
  • At least one business cycleA minimum of seven days, so weekday and weekend visitors are both counted.
  • Enough visitors to tellSmall differences need large samples. Low-traffic pages may never reach a clear answer, and that is said plainly.

Based on Optimizely’s experimentation guidance on test duration, statistical significance and minimum detectable effect.

Test plan: class booking page

Illustrative example
Hypothesis
If the page states the class, its time and what is included first, and asks for fewer details, more visitors who want a class will book one, because they no longer have to search for the basics.
Success measure
Bookings per visitor to the page, agreed before the test starts
Split
Half of visitors see A, half see B, at the same time
Duration
At least seven days, longer if the page has few visitors
Decision
Yours: keep B, keep A, or test again
ResultNot run. This is an example plan, so there is no result to show, and no improvement is claimed.

Where do your visitors give up?

Tell us about the page or form that loses people. We’ll reply personally about Conversion AI and where it is in development.

Is Conversion AI available now?

No. It is in development and has no launch date. SEO AI is the only MarketAlong product available today, as a private pilot.

Will it promise more conversions?

No. Some changes help, some do nothing and some make things worse. The point of a fair test is to find out which, and the product would say so either way.

What if my site has little traffic?

Then a test may not reach a clear answer. The planned product would say so and suggest other evidence, such as watching where visitors hesitate.

Are the two pages real?

No. Example Ceramics and both versions are fictional, and no test was run. The photo is a licensed stock image from Pexels.
